Monday's Bay Area Buzz

  • Alex Smith is just as proud of balls thrown away as touchdown passes, which pretty much sums up the passive nature of Alex Smith's career. Why did he treasure those throw aways you ask? "Because they could have been interceptions," says Smith. I have no doubt that this is the same attidue Brees, Manning and Brady bring to the Quarterback position.
  • At least the 49ers can take one thing away from being 1-5. They are one of the first teams in line for waiver free agent Shawne Merriman. Adam Schefter is reporting that the 49ers will be putting in a claim for Merriman, who was a college teammate a close friend with the 49ers Vernon Davis.
  • I think I agree with this Yahoo! aritcle that the Giants might need to roll with Pablo Sandoval in the lineup. Fotnenot has been alright defensively, but he brings absolutlety nothing to the lineup. Its hard for me to not like an LSU guy such as Fontenont, but man he is bland. I dont think I have ever seen him with anything but a blank stare on his face.
  • Kawakami thinks the Giants should fear the Phillies, not the beard.
  • Warriors world is writing a three part series about the Warriors Owner, General Manager, Coaches and Players. Todays report breaks down the new ownership and  sends some love towards General Manager Larry Riley.
