Giants Everything 49ers Are Not

Once a rabid, pro-football loving city, San Francisco is officially turning into a Giants baseball town. As the boys in Orange and Black head back to Philly for game 6 of the NLCS, fans across the Bay Area are on pins and needles, wondering if their team can and make it to their second world series this decade.

The 49ers on the other hand? Heading to Carolina after a 1-5 start, working on making the playoffs for the first time in 7 years and looking to fulfill their owner's promise of a playoff birth despite their 0-5 record.

So how have the Giants, who have never won a world series in San Francisco, taken the city's crown away from the 5 time super bowl champion 49ers?

1- The Stadium

Sparkling ATT Park, sitting on San Francisco Bay, is an amazing representation of what we enjoy every day living in the Bay Area. The panoramic views captured on HD tv's showcase the beautiful Bay Area. Unlike the 49ers dump, which looks like its being played in the middle of a parking lot. The 49ers need a stadium that fans actually want to go to, and that national TV actually wants to telecast.

2- Management

The Giants have been the rare model organization ever since owner Bill Neukom took over the team in 2009. The Giants have had consistent leadership in Neukom and General Manager Brian Sabean, the longest tenured GM in the major leagues. The front office developed a plan and stuck to it. Draft pitchers like crazy, spend on your bullpen, and build your lineup with bargain, high average solid defense, veterans.

3- Building a Team Identity

Their are two parts to the Giants team identity. Their is the identity of Giants management, which sticks to a smart, successful blueprint. Pitching, more pitching, solid bullpen pitching, and a lineup that makes contact and plays defense. Its perfect simple, and very well executed.

The second part is the identity of the personalities on the roster. Brian Sabean has done an unbelievable job at bringing in high character guys, whose personalities mesh well in the clubhouse. This team looks like they are having fun out there, and the crowd and fans feed off of that emotion.

Random Giants Related thoughts while watching this series:

- Pablo Sandoval spits more frequently than any human being on this planet. (well i guess technically he is a panda, not a human)

- I swear Buster Posey is the reincarnation of Derrick Jeter, only as a catcher. The opposite field hitting, the clutch at bats the winners attitude. Just  like Jeter, Posey is valuable in so many ways that statistics cant even begin to measure. He's just a winner baby.

- Good Lord Will Clark has put on some weight. Who has put on more weight post-playing career. Will Clark or Nolan Ryan
