Who else but Les Miles for SEC Coach of the Year?

Lets not get too far ahead of ourselves, after all, there are still three games remaining in the college football regular season. But at this juncture, with final standings and BCS implications nearing, isn't Les Miles the obvious candidate for SEC coach of the year?

All he has done so far, is take an LSU team that was ranked 22nd in the pre-season, and slotted to finish 4th in the SEC West, and led them thus far to an 8-1 record, with wins against top 25 teams UNC, West Virginia, Florida and Alabama.

He has gotten the most out of two lame duck quarterbacks, reinvented an anemic offense mid-season, generated multiple late game heroics and has entertained the nation with his wild "Mad Hatter" persona, which bashes Cam Newton, pull of literal miracles and even eats grass on occasion.

Perhaps the most impressive factor in the case for Les Miles is that he has done all this despite the fact that his own fan base loathes him. He has been on a raging fire of a cajun-style-hot-seat every week of the season despite an 8 and 1 record, and miraculously, never lost the teams ear along the way.

Imagine how difficult that must be. Everywhere players go in Baton Rouge they have classmates, friends and family telling them that their coach is no good, and that they would be better off with somebody else, yet Les has never stopped motivating these players, inspiring them to play their ass'es off week in and week out.

A case can be made for Auburn coach Gene Chizik, who was on a similar hot seat even before he had coached an SEC game, yet Chizik hasn't experienced the same adversity as Les Miles this season, and has Heisman lock Cam Newton smoothing things over when things go wrong.

Of course everything can change over the next three weeks, as the SEC regular season has a tendency to take just as quickly as it can give, but at this point you would be a fool to overlook what Les Miles has done for the LSU Tigers.

Because he has been making a fool out of you all season.
