The Dodgers Bridge is Falling Down

It feels like such a glorious day to be a Giants fan. Still basking in the glow of a championship title defense, all while watching the hated LA Dodgers crumble under the ineptitude of owner Frank McCourt.

So Giants fans should be celebrating right?

Not so fast my friend. The root of the Giants/Dodgers rivalry is their historical competivness. These two ball clubs have been fighting for the right to get into the playoffs for close to an entire century. In the heyday of the rivalry each ball club knew that the other was the one team standing in their way of a successful season.

Now? Well it appears that the Dodgers aren't going to stand in anyones way for a long time. Not after they came up 30 million dollars short on their payroll bill and were overtaken by major league baseball.

So while I love stomping the Dodgers just as much as the next guy, I also understand that battling the Rockies for 1st place in the NL West just isn't quite as fun as it always was against the Dodgers.
